What Our Visitors Say

Real Experiences from Happy Guests

My 11 years old twins loved their trip to the farm during lambing season. It was great for them to see a working farm and learn about caring for new born lambs. They enjoyed seeing where the lambs were born and where they slept. The highlight for them was getting to give some of the lambs milk in a bottle. Shona & Craig were so knowledgeable, and great at including all the children and adults in the group. The trip was so much fun and we can’t wait to do it again.

Just wanted to drop a quick note to say how much we enjoyed the visit to the farm on Sunday – it was great fun, the kids loved getting to feed the lambs & we all learnt more about farm life too. Looking forward to booking up for next year already & hoping to bring some friends along too.

Lesley

We had a lovely day visiting Shonas farm. Shona was so knowledgable and explained all about the different animals and answered all our questions. She made the whole experience so much fun and to top it off we were able to collect freshly laid eggs! We will def visit again!

Fantastic fun for family afternoon. If you love sheep 🐑 this is brilliant. We had the best time. We took our 8-year-old grandson who is still talking about it. He was walking tea cake. And he is so excited 😊 that he wants to go back again with his mum. We had lots of fun pating the sheep, cuddling them. Looking round the farm. We had a sheep race at the end of walking sheep and sheep seemed to really enjoy running down the field. We will certainly come back. It was such a joyous and happy experience. And I would highly recommend it.

Sheep walking! Absolutely brilliant afternoon. I wasn't sure what to expect other than walking a sheep, but the experience was much much more than that. The time started with a quick talk from Shona and Craig, then we fed some lambs, donkeys, and highland cows , played with the chickens and of course walked the sheep. The walk itself was a relaxed walk round the field then onto a race between the other groups and their sheep, with lots of cuddles in between. The experience for me was more than just walking a sheep though, i've grown up on farms whereas my kids haven't, so to give them the experience of cuddling a sheep, or being up close to a highland cow was lovely to watch. Both Shona and Craig came and chatted throughout the time, and were GENUINELY interested in the experience and our views and also in their farm. It was so refreshing to speak to people that are not interested in making money, but how to keep the integrity of their farm and also allow others to enjoy their experience. At no point did we feel rushed or uncomfortable with the kids wondering around noseying where they shouldn't. Shona was very informative about farming, and their journey, and answered all and any questions. You can also tell the animals are happy and loved, and the sheep seemed to enjoy the experience as much as the families. After the experience we had a free hot drink and the kids had a free juice, which is a lovely touch. The kids sat and coloured in pictures of the sheep and were in no rush to go home. I mentioned to Craig that the fact my boys were sitting having fun, together , talking about what they had done, and not fighting or moaning, was a very good sign. My son has also just been to Dumfries house as part of learning he is doing on farming, and told Craig 'this was better than dumfries house' and he didn't like the sheep experience, he LOVED it. We also bought some Lamb burgers and eggs and i can safely say, the burgers were amazing, and you can tell they came from happy well reared animals. The only one error I would say from the whole day, was that when i said to Craig my kids would love to stay and help, he said 'we can do with all the help we can' , and i haven't heard the end of it since. They are both genuinely desperate to come and work on the farm now. Absolutely great afternoon, with lovely people, lovely animals and happy kids and we will definitely be back for pumpkin time!

Sheep walking experience We had a fantastic morning at the farm for the sheep walking experience. We visited the farm last year for the lamb tour and it was lovely to see the same lambs grown into big sheep. We had Oreo who was friendly and fun and happy to be led about by the kids in return for treats. There’s only 5 sheep in the group so lots of space for people to enjoy joy their time with the sheep. Shona and Craig are friendly and welcoming and happy to answer all the questions. The farm is clean and well maintained with plenty hand washing facilities and a toilet. 90 minutes was ample time for the experience and it’s finished with a drink and snacks and merchandise are available to purchase. We are lucky to have this farm local to us and it will be nice to return each year and see the development of their farm and the activities. Would highly recommend, good value for money.

Sheep walking experience We’d hoped to go along to the lambing feeding; we went last year and had such fun, my son was allowed to name a lamb which he checked up on today. We missed out this year because I made a holiday booking first, when I returned to the link, they were fully booked. That is how popular Craigbank farm activities are! We weren’t disappointed however, the sheep walking experience appeared. A unique, creative and entertaining afternoon. Lamb, cow and donkey feeding were also included. Shona and Craig are a relaxed, friendly couple which creates a casual setting, encouraging plenty of giggles from my two children. They wandered and danced with their individual sheep before taking part in an assault course with them. They welcome an array of questions and feedback. We look forward to returning in October for pumpkin picking, particularly as they grow the pumpkins themselves.
